How Google Mobile Search updates the continuous scrolling feature

Google Mobile Search is newly updated by Google in the US with continuous scrolling when multiple results are automatically loaded. With this feature, it will automatically display multiple results when the user scrolls to the bottom of the page when searching with the Chrome browser.

Google has stated that: “At Google, we are constantly exploring new ways to help people find what they are looking for quickly and easily. Earlier in this year, Google launched a redesigned that is called Google Mobile Search results page for a more modern experience that’s easier to scan & navigate. Today, now we are making google search results more seamless with the introduction of continuous scrolling on mobile devices.”

For those who use Google search, this is a great upgrade and quality makes their experience better as it is now possible to scroll the nearly endless list of results to find the right content. In the past, our mobile SERPs adhered fairly closely to the ‘ten blue links’ format and were derived from desktop search. Instead of showing a paginated list at the bottom of the results, the new Google Mobile Search update will show a ‘See More’ button at the bottom of the page. This means that clicking that button on a mobile device is equivalent to clicking page two of the desktop search results.

This change can be extremely beneficial for vendors, because we all know that page two of Google won’t get as much traffic as page one. Google says people looking for information can scroll to the first four pages of search results. Besides, users tend to be less likely to click on the results they see after the first page. This was revealed  in a 2021 study  showing that the CTR of page two results is less than 1%.

So why don’t people click on page two results? What did the Google Mobile Search change solve?

Because of the fact that everyone thinks its content is of poor quality, it is not possible to make it to page one. But with constant scrolling on mobile, nearly all results are now page one results. This change can create the illusion that users haven’t left the first page of the SERPs, leading them to spot and potentially click on URLs they wouldn’t have noticed if they were still on the update. old. It’s a great mobile UI design for apps like TikTok and Instagram’s Explore page. On TikTok, users can continuously scroll down their feed and the app will continue to show more videos to watch.
